The speckled bowl is thrown on a wheel and trimmed by hand with a light, oat color stain and a clear glazed interior. It is made with a blend of porcelain and recycled clays. Luke Eastop is a third generation ceramicist living and working out of his grandfather's studio in England. His work explores the basic qualities of material and form through pared-down geometric pieces made in a range of experimental clay bodies. He started making ceramics in the studio of his late grandfather, British ceramicist Geoffrey Eastop, and has since established his own practice in Margate, Kent.
